Ahead of Blues early kick-off against QPR, Callum O’ Connell weighs up the early season progress at St Andrews and declares himself satisfied.

Blues lie second in the championship only 3 points adrift of early pace setters Wolves. I don't think anybody at the beginning of the season thought the team from Molineux would be top, but for the moment second for the moment will do.

A couple of Saturday’s ago Blues lost their 100% record in the Championship with a 1-0 loss to a Blackpool team who played us off the field, but last week we beat Cardiff 2-1 away thanks to a great first half display – even if we were bit more lax in the second half.

That was followed by a decent draw at Derby, even if it was disappointing to throw a win away by allowing a late equaliser.

Overall, Blues' season has got off to a good start and promotion is on the cards.

Also at St Andrews, the new Jeff Hall clock was unveiled and was heavily criticised by Bluenoses for not representing a great player in the correct way. The board have since reacted to this positively and have decided to get a new one made that’s more fitting.

On the transfer front Blues don't seem to be getting anywhere with the potential target of Boateng. Instead, it seems they’ve opted for Nigel Quashie a former Baggies player.

Another name that has cropped up is good ol' Hossam Ghaly (remember him?) the man who turned down Blues because he didn’t like Bruce’s training regime (Bruce asked him to run) - the man who thought he was better than blues. He ended going to Derby - the worst team in Premiership history.

Anyway he's come out and publicly said he wants to join blues to re-ignite his career. I hope McLeish doesn't take him on- he doesn’t deserve to wear the blues shirt.
