"NO LIBRARY DELAY" PLEDGES COUNCIL

30-06-2009

Birmingham Council has moved to scotch claims by Friends of the Central Library campaigner Alan Clawley that the new building has already slipped behind schedule.

Clawley claimed that Library boss Brian Gambles said last week that the self-imposed August deadline for making a planning application would be missed.

That's been denied by a Council spokesman who said: "It is not true that there is any slippage in the Library of Birmingham timetable.

"We are still very much on course to go to planning in August, start on site early next year and complete by 2013."
