Today marks the final Stirrer “front page” – at least for the time being – but our popular Forum will continue as the place to break and discuss all the news that matters in Birmingham, the Black Country and beyond. Stirrer editor Adrian Goldberg will also be posting regularly on his own blog.

As we indicated recently, the equation of loadsa time in/no money out has ultimately defeated us, and for the site to continue as it has in the past we need to find a more sustainable business model.

This certainly isn’t out of the question, and we’ve been indebted to the numerous individuals who’ve offered constructive advice and support over the past few weeks.

Indeed, we are confident that The Stirrer – or something like it – could be financially viable, if not now then at some time in the near future; but having dedicated four years of our lives to the project, it’s time to take a breather before deciding what to do next.

The site archive will continue to be accessible and we will maintain and moderate the Forum for the foreseeable future – and, who knows, the front page may yet return.

If not, well, it’s been an exciting, scary, and sometimes exhilarating ride that’s brought us into contact with some wonderful people and some brilliant writers.

Thank you all for sharing our great adventure.
