TRUST QUITS BODIES EXHIBITION 11-01-2010 The British Liver Trust has withdrawn its support for the controversial Bodies Revealed exhibition at Birmingham’s Custard Factory, following a one-man protest by Stirrer blogger Dr David Nicholl. Trust chief executive Dr Alison Rogers, said this morning that the organisers of the event couldn’t give her sufficient assurances about the origin of the human specimens which came from China. She said: “We didn’t really feel we could be certain they had come an ethical source. We’re not saying that they aren’t telling the truth – just that there wasn’t enough unequivocal information. “We’re taking the exhibition off our website, and hope they’ll take our name off their website”. Dr Nicholl is concerned that the bodies may have come from prisoners who has been executed or tortured, and is now taking up the issue with Trading Standards. The exhibition organizers say, “all of the bodies and organ specimens in Bodies Revealed came from individuals who chose to donate their bodies to medical science for the purpose of study and education and are deceased from natural causes.” DISCUSS THIS ON THE STIRRER FORUM |
