SIMON SAYS - "I STAY"

08-01-2010

Erdington MP Sion has squashed rumours that he’s planning to stand down at the next election, telling friends that the story is “untrue tittle tattle”. Great – maybe now as Minister for the Creative Industries he’ll pull his finger out and do something to bring the film industry to the West Midlands.

As regular readers will know, Walsall-based Stirrer blogger Jonathan Stuart Brown has been working tirelessly to persuade Pinewood PLC to expand their production base by moving it north of Watford – especially as the company’s hopes of developing close to their current base in Buckinghamshire appear doomed.

Some of our elected representatives have enthusiastically embraced the challenge of making this region the home of the British movie industry – not least Edgbaston MP Gisela Stuart who has written to Business Secretary Lord Mandelson to ensure that Pinewood remembers its obligations to Britain.

One man who has been conspicuously silent on the issue, however, is – yes - Sion Simon who has failed to respond to any of Jonathan’s emails on the subject over a period of 12 months.

Come on Sion – if you’re going to stay, earn your corn.
