HEMMING TUNES UP FOR NEW RELEASE

25-04-2008

Not content with being an outspoken parliamentarian, a computer millionaire and the world’s greatest lover…MP John Hemming has added yet another string to his bow. Literally. He’s used his musical talents to record a single to promote one of his favourite causes – injustice in the family courts.

Before his parliamentary career, Hemming used to play around the pubs and clubs as a jazz musician, and now he’s used his contacts to record a track called Bring The Sunshine In – available for download from May 12.

He told us: “There’s a dual purpose to this. One is to raise money for the Angela Cannings Foundation, which helps parents falsely accused to hurting their children.

"The other is to generate cash for people who go around helping support people who are facing action in the Family Courts - to help pay their expenses and so on.

"I know the Family Courts aren't always wrong, but they are too secret and we should know what's going on."

Hemming has put the release together with a Birmingham musician also called John Hemming, and is anticipating a torrent of publicity when it comes out – not all of it favourable.

"The point about something like this is not to go unnoticed, is it?" he admitted.

The Stirrer has heard the track, and there’s little evidence of the MP’s jazz heritage – it’s more of a stadium rock swayalong with stomping guitars.

As for the vocals…well, let’s just say that Hemming is no Sinatra!
