News reaches The Stirrer of an open day on Saturday highlighting the ultimate in environmentally friendly living – the house that needs no fuel. What’s more, it’s a classic Victorian terrace in inner city Birmingham.

The property in Balsall heath has been modified by local architect John Christophers, who will soon live there with his family.

Large amounts of insulation have been added to the house, which was built in 1840, so that it can hold the heat, even when it is cold outside.

Hot water and electricity will come from the sun – leading to the boast that it will be a sero carbon house.

There will be tours between 10 am and 4 pm on Saturday 14th November, 2009 at 103 Tindal St, Balsall Heath, Birmingham B12 92U.

Birmingham also has another eco-friendly house. More info at zerocarbonhousebirmingham.org.uk
