Callum’s Blues Blog

Just a few months after the despair of relegation, our Blues blogger Callum O' Connell is facing up optimistically to the prospect of life in the Championship, starting with Saturday's game against Sheffield United.

So the start of a new season is upon us, we’ve got up dusted ourselves down and we’re having to start all over again.

We have a lot of the same players as we did the last time we were at this level two years ago - as well players like Larsson, Kelly, Jaidi, McSheffery and Jerome.

There are also have some new additions to the squad that we have brought this transfer window and these additions I personally feel will have us at the top of the league come the end of the season well ahead of the rest.

I think we all know that players like Phillips, Carsley and Jaidi wouldn’t really be the ‘better players’ of the Premier League but with their careers drawing to a close, I think they could be fantastic in the Championship.

With the loan signing of Kemy Augustien Blues have a versatile young dynamic midfielder. I think, though, the major coup this season - and what a signing he should be – is Quincy Owusu-Abeyie. He’s quicker than Henry, he’s only 22 and from the videos that I’ve seen of him he looks amazing.

This season should be good and i feel that McLeish will guide us to the top of the league we have a stronger squad than two years ago and may be a stronger one than last season.

Hopefully before the weekend we will have Bobo Balde as well and I think Blues will be raring to go - with the players we have got we should easily be able to get out of this league and hopefully be able to do it in style.
