MIDLAND JOURNEY (MAC, tonight)

20-04-2007

Stirrer editor Adrian Goldberg hosts another Midland Journey at MAC tonight with films of bygone Birmingham. The good news is that there are still a few tickets available - but not many.

The entertainment starts at 6.15 and here’s what’s on show:

1. Redevelopment - (c1956) Documentary about the slum clearance and then redevelopment of the Bath Row area of Birmingham - later renamed Lee Bank and currently undergoing another transformation into Attwood Green.

2. Birmingham in the 1930s A short silent that combines a film shot by the Birmingham Cine Society with some shots of trolleybuses in Birmingham.

3. Ringway (1963) Film about the design and construction of Birmingham’s notorious concrete collar - the inner ring road.

4. Look Around: Edgbaston (1963) ATV made television film examining Edgbaston.

5. ATV News compilation. A compilation of news items with a local flavour. Includes footage of the last gas-lamp lighter in Birmingham as well interviews about the arrival of the 'permissive society' in Brum.

These shows usually sell out so don’t delay - book now at www.macarts.co.uk or call 0121 440 3838
